The Music Slam starts this weekend with an all-out party in the Village of the Arts! The annual Music Slam in Bradenton features musical performances from March – May and is organized by Realize Bradenton and its cultural partners. The party in the Village starts this Friday, March 2, at 5:30 PM with the unveiling of a 21’ tall public art display labeled the “Chrysalis Launcher” on the corner of 9th St. W. and 12th Ave. W. in front of Manatee Apparel Graphics, which will host an open house starting at 5 PM with food and wine available.
Following the unveiling, the celebration continues with the Sugg Middle School Drum Line marching into the Village of the Arts for the monthly First Friday ArtWalk. The Artwalk features over 30 galleries, shops, and restaurants in the Village from 6:30-9:00 PM. There will be six musical performances featured at individual galleries, including:
- Jimbo and George at Dancing Crane Gallery
- Gigi and the Cretans at Rawk Shop
- Drumming at Little at Swamp Studio
- Elephant in the Room at Yoga Arts
- Joyful Sounds (gospel blue grass) at Bits and Pieces
- Beverly McClellan at Blues Revue
Beverly McClellan is the “Rising Star” who appeared on season one of NBC’s The Voice (finishing in the top 4!) and is featured at the Blues Revue at 1001 11th Ave. W. McClellan starts a tour with the Legendary B.B. King on March 20, 2012.
